New Covenant Bible Church, originally Ensley Bible Church, was founded in 1974 by the late Reverend James N. Graves, Jr. and Urban
Evangelical Mission (formerly Black Evangelistic Enterprise or BEE) headed by Dr. Ruben S. Conner out of Dallas, Texas, and a group of local pastors, and businessmen. The newly found church was
set-up in a store-front in downtown Ensley. The church based its doctrine on the foundational teachings of the Bible, and the importance of evangelism and the support missions.
In March of 1984, the church relocated to the West End area of Birmingham and changed its name to New Covenant Bible Church.
